Recycling Your Tea Cup Candle

When your vintage candle is almost burned down it is time to recycle.

The wick base will prevent your candle reaching the bottom of your cup. When all the wax is molten extinguish the flame and let it cool a little.

Pour away any excess wax into a container lined with kitchen paper for disposal. Do not under any circumstances pour down the sink as the wax will harden in the drain when
cooled.

Alternatively, partially fill the vessel with boiled water and allow to cool; the wax will solidify in a layer on the top which you can throw straight in the bin.

Rub the inside of the vessel with kitchen paper and then with an alcohol wipe to remove most traces of wax. Wash in washing up liquid to remove any lingering traces.

Once dry your vintage china is ready to reuse. Settle down with a cup of tea or coffee.

You can refill your candle but always check for cracks or damage and bear in mind that it can weaken over time. DM for our refill service. Please bear in mind we can only refill cups without cracks and chips that have passed our safety checks.

Even modern candle jars and tins need to be clear of wax to be recyclable. If you are worried about recycling follow the instructions above for all your candle purchases then either reuse or recycle appropriately - don't just throw it away!
