Our Candles
All our candles are made from a carefully blended mix of natural soy and coconut or soy and vegetable wax. We don’t use colours or petroleum derivatives. This perfect wax blend ensures a long, smooth and clean burn. Our wicks are either cotton or wood, depending on the style and size of the candle. Fragrance oils are carefully sourced and mixed to ensure a safe and sumptuous fragrance throw. Unlike most companies our candles have a lengthy curing process, enhancing both cold and hot scent throw. Each Broken Pier candle is hand mixed and poured at the ideal temperature to give you the best possible fragrance experience.
Our vintage china cups are carefully tested and any with cracks or flaws are recycled. My house is full of teacup plant pots. China cups are made to withstand high temperatures, often used daily to carry boiling liquid. When your candle is finished, clean out the cup and re-use. We offer a local refill service on request. You can also use the vintage cups and jugs for their original purpose; there’s nothing prettier than a 1950s milk jug and nothing more nostalgic than a 1970s coffee cup. Our tea and coffee cup scents transport you to cafes and tea parties with afternoon tea, Earl Grey and cucumber, ginger and lemongrass and floral jasmine or French press, coffee mocha and pumpkin spice latte in our coffee cups. The prices vary depending on the status of the antique and their desirability to collectors. There is something affordable in this range for everybody. We can offer a bespoke vintage cup service locally. Perhaps you have inherited a cup from a relative and would like to remember them with a particular scent. My sister gave me a set of fine china teacups belonging to our mum and dad. I filled one for each of my siblings and it felt like Mum and Dad were back with us, the cups that were in storage now proudly on display, shining brightly and filling the room with delicious scents. Broken Pier jar candles are made from a blend of all natural wax. Our scents are carefully curated and hand mixed at the perfect temperature ready to be hand poured into jars specifically tailored for candle making. Each
one is inspired by life in Brighton and Hove, but many are universally recognisable, from donuts and candy floss on the pier to pink lemonade in the North Laine, sugared blossoms in Preston Park to berries and bay at Stanmer Woods. We also have a deodorising wet dog duo and a range of limited-edition seasonal candles in different sizes. Our labels are designed in house and printed on matt paper, featuring a photograph taken in and around the city.
